Welcome to our Award-Winning fernDOWNLOAD Robotics Club

Now into our third year, fernDOWNLOAD ROBOTICS is bigger and stronger than ever. Our club takes part in the international FIRST TECH CHALLENGE where we build robots, help our community and inspire the next generation of engineers. We have over 40 girls who take part.

In our rookie season in 2020 one of our teams became Regional Champions and our club won the CONNECT Award for our community work and outreach. We look forward to our four teams being even more successful this year with live competitions beginning again.

As a FIRST TECH CHALLENGE Champion School, we aim to engage new local schools in the competition and help even more young people become #morethanrobots!

FIRST Tech Challenge UK Season 2019/20

This season, teams of young people aged 12-18 design, build and programme a robot to complete a Star Wars-themed challenge: SKYSTONETM. By May 2020, up to 2,000 young people will compete at London’s Copper Box Arena with five teams progressing to represent the UK at the FIRST World Championships in Detroit, USA. See the video here for details.

UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC THIS SEASON WAS CANCELLED. OUR THOUGHTS GO TO OTHERS IN THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO COMING BACK EVEN STRONGER NEXT SEASON AS WE ARE #MORETHANROBOTS
